What it does

The unit that takes robotic sweeping outside.

Indoor cleaning robots stop at the door, and for good reason: water ingress, dust, uneven surfaces, vehicles and sunlight all break assumptions that hold on a sealed indoor floor. That is why most fleets have a gap the moment the job moves to a loading yard, a carpark deck or a campus walkway.

The PUDU MT1 Max is built for that gap. Full IP54 sealing against dust and water, a water-drop sensor that puts the machine into a protective mode when it starts raining, and a mast-mounted warning beacon so it is visible to drivers and pedestrians in shared traffic.

It keeps the MT1's two-speed logic. Scheduled coverage runs at up to 2,200 m²/h, and between those passes it patrols, recognises what has actually been dropped and clears it at up to 7,000 m²/h. Outdoors that difference is larger than indoors, because open areas are mostly clean most of the time and the litter arrives unpredictably.

The perception stack is heavier than the indoor MT1: 3D LiDAR with multi-sensor fusion, which is what lets it deal with kerbs, ramps, parked vehicles and people moving at speed rather than the tidier obstacle set of an indoor floor.

The outdoor unit a WA site actually needs.

Western Australian sites generate outdoor dust in a way that imported specifications rarely anticipate: red dust tracked in on vehicles, fine grit off hardstand, and packaging debris around every receiving door. Sweeping that with an indoor machine is a good way to void a warranty.

The MT1 Max is rated for the job rather than pressed into it. IP54 sealing, a rain sensor and a warning beacon are the three things that decide whether an outdoor deployment is viable, and all three are standard rather than optional extras.

The patrol model suits outdoor work even better than indoor. A yard does not get dirty evenly: it gets dirty where a pallet was broken down or a bin blew over. Scheduled coverage handles the grit and patrol handles the events, which is why the 7,000 m²/h spot figure matters more than the coverage rate on a large open area.

If your work is indoors, the MT1 is the same idea in a lighter, cheaper machine. If the floor needs washing rather than sweeping, you want a scrubber such as the CC1 Pro. We are multi-OEM so that recommendation can be honest.

Is the MT1 Max genuinely rated for outdoor use?
Yes. PUDU rates it for outdoor and semi-outdoor work, with full IP54 sealing against dust and splashing water, a water-drop sensor that shifts it into a protective mode when rain starts, and a mast-mounted warning beacon for shared traffic areas. That is different from an indoor machine used outdoors, which usually voids the warranty.
Will it work in the rain?
IP54 covers dust ingress and splashing water, not immersion or heavy sustained rain. The water-drop sensor exists precisely so the machine responds to rain rather than continuing regardless. In practice that means it handles a wet surface and a passing shower, and we schedule around genuine downpours.
How is it different from the standard MT1?
Same idea, heavier build. The MT1 is an indoor sweeper at 1,800 m²/h coverage with a 490 mm tall body. The MT1 Max adds IP54 sealing, a rain sensor, a warning beacon and a 3D LiDAR perception stack, and lifts coverage to 2,200 m²/h and spot cleaning to 7,000 m²/h. It is 85 kg against 65 kg and taller with the beacon mast.
Can it work safely around vehicles?
That is what the 3D perception stack and the beacon are for. 3D LiDAR with multi-sensor fusion handles kerbs, ramps, parked and moving vehicles and pedestrians, and the mast light means drivers see the machine. We still set exclusion zones around genuine hazards at survey rather than relying on sensors alone.
What gradient can it handle?
PUDU does not publish a gradient rating for the MT1 Max, so we will not quote one. Ramps and cross-falls get assessed at survey against your actual site, and if a deck ramp is outside what the machine will do we say so before anything is ordered.
Does it scrub or wash surfaces?
No. It is a sweeper: dry debris, dust, litter and grit. If you need an outdoor surface washed rather than swept, that is a different machine and a different conversation, and we would rather have it up front than after delivery.
How often does someone empty it?
The bin holds 35 L. On outdoor sites the fill rate depends heavily on season and location, so a yard under trees in autumn is a very different proposition from a covered dock. The app flags it when the bin is filling, and we size the schedule around your site rather than a brochure figure.
How do we pay for it?
Three ways, your choice. Robot as a Service is a flat monthly subscription from $50 a day covering hardware, servicing, support and software. You can also buy outright with an optional Care Plan, or take a 2 to 4 year lease, with the option to own the unit at the end of the term.
Who services it in Western Australia?
We do. Perth Robots handles the survey, mapping, deployment, training and ongoing service ourselves from Perth. Metro sites get same-day on-site response; regional WA gets next business day for parts, with most software issues resolved remotely within the hour.
