Almost every commercial cleaning robot working an Australian floor today was built by one of about six manufacturers. Comparing them should be easy. In practice most of the advice comes from dealers who hold a single franchise, so most "which brand" articles are really a catalogue with opinions attached.
We are a multi-OEM dealer, so we win the deal whichever way the brand question lands. That lets us do something a single-brand dealer cannot: give each maker genuine credit where it is due, and say plainly when the badge is the wrong thing to compare.
The brands, honestly
Every fact below comes from the manufacturers' published material or reputable industry reporting; anything we could not verify was left out.
Pudu Robotics
Pudu is a Shenzhen manufacturer founded in 2016 and one of the largest service-robot makers in the world, with more than 100,000 robots shipped to over 80 countries, most visibly its BellaBot delivery robots. Its cleaning line is anchored by the CC1 and CC1 Pro, compact four-in-one machines that sweep, scrub, vacuum and dust-mop in one pass and fit through a 70 cm gap, with lift integration for multi-floor buildings. The CC1 Pro adds a rear vision system that inspects the floor behind the robot and re-cleans what it missed. Pudu's real strengths are manufacturing scale and hardware polish, and the CC1 family suits offices and mixed carpet-and-hard-floor sites. In Australia it is sold through several distributors, so support depends on which one you buy from.
Gausium
Gausium, founded in Shanghai in 2013 as Gaussian Robotics, has the strongest cleaning-first pedigree in the market: it started with autonomous floor scrubbers rather than arriving from delivery robots. Its Scrubber 50 is one of the best-known robotic scrubbers globally, the compact Phantas bundles vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing and dust mopping in one small machine, and the wider range runs from the Vacuum 40 up to the Scrubber 75. Deployments span more than 70 countries. Gausium suits buyers who want genuine wet-scrubbing depth from a range built around cleaning rather than adapted to it. Australian supply is through distributors, and the same local-support question applies.
Keenon Robotics
Keenon, founded in Shanghai in 2010, built its name in hospitality: tens of thousands of its delivery robots work in restaurants and hotels worldwide, so it is often the brand a venue operator already knows. Its cleaning line is the KLEENBOT series, compact machines that sweep, vacuum, mop and dust in a single unit, aimed at hotels, shopping centres, offices and airports. That hospitality footprint is a real advantage in guest-facing spaces, where Keenon's navigation has had years of dense pedestrian traffic to learn from. It reaches Australia through authorised distributors with local support teams.
LionsBot
LionsBot is the closest thing to a regional player: a Singapore company founded in 2018 that designs and builds its robots in Singapore. Its LeoBot won the Interclean Amsterdam Innovation Award in 2020, the first Asian company to do so, and its current R3 range covers compact scrubbing and vacuuming with a deliberately friendly design language. With over 1,700 robots across some 30 countries it is smaller than the Chinese majors, but it suits buyers who want a compact, well-designed scrubber from a maker in a nearby time zone.
Tennant
Tennant is the traditional equipment maker on the list: an American floor-care manufacturer whose ride-on and walk-behind scrubbers have been on Australian industrial sites for decades. Its robotic line began in 2018 with the T7AMR and now spans the industrial T16AMR and the X4 ROVR, its first purpose-built robotic scrubber, which reached Australia in May 2025; the autonomy comes from Brain Corp's BrainOS platform. Tennant suits operations that already run Tennant equipment and want robots supported through the same channel, particularly heavy industrial floors. The trade-off is a line that grew out of conventional floor-care machines rather than being robot-native from the start.
CenoBots
Full disclosure: CenoBots is one of the two lines we carry, so weigh this profile accordingly. It is an international robotics company specialising in cleaning, with subsidiaries in Singapore, the USA, the Netherlands and China and robots deployed in more than 30 countries. The range is unusually broad for one brand: compact scrubber-dryers (L3, L4), the supermarket-scale L50, the S5 industrial sweeper and the SP50 spot-cleaning vacuum that patrols for mess and targets it rather than covering the whole floor on a loop. That breadth is why it anchors our fleet: it covers more site types with fewer compromises than any single competing line we assessed.
What matters more than the badge
The truth under every brand comparison is that for most Australian sites, more than one of the brands above could do the job. The variables that decide whether a deployment succeeds belong to your floor, not the factory:
- Surface. Polished concrete, vinyl, tile and carpet each favour different machines. A scrubber-dryer that excels on a supermarket floor is the wrong tool for a carpeted office.
- Area and layout. A robot sized for 10,000 m² of open warehouse will fight a clinic corridor, and a compact unit will never finish the warehouse.
- Obstacles and traffic. Trolleys, pallets, forklifts and pedestrians decide how much sensing and clearance you need.
- Water versus dry. Wet scrubbing needs water fill and drainage points; dry sweeping and vacuuming does not. Plenty of sites that assume they need a scrubber actually need a sweeper, and vice versa.
- Service reality in your state. The best robot on paper is the worst robot on your floor if nobody within 3,000 km can fix it.
Get those five right and several badges would work. Get them wrong and no badge will save the deployment.
The WA service question
Every brand above designs and builds its robots overseas, which means what you are really buying in Australia is the local layer: the people who commission the robot, map your site, hold the spare parts and turn up when it faults. Most distribution runs from the east coast, and a robot in Perth is a long way from a technician in Melbourne or Sydney.
Whatever ends up on your shortlist, ask the same three things of every brand: who commissions and maps the robot at my site, where are the parts held, and what is the realistic response time to my postcode. The answers vary far more between distributors than the robots vary between brands. For our part, every unit we deploy is mapped, serviced and supported from Perth; that is part of the product, not an accident of geography.
Where our fleet sits
Perth Robots carries nine units across two lines: five CenoBots-branded robots (the S5 industrial sweeper, SP50 AI spot cleaner, and the L50, L4 and L3 scrubber-dryers) and four Perth Robots house units (the C40 four-in-one, the waterless SW55 and SW80 sweeper-vacuums, and the outdoor XG). We are open about which is which.
The reason for carrying two lines instead of one is the whole argument of this article: a warehouse, a shopping centre and a mine camp need different machines, and a single-brand catalogue forces every site into whatever that brand happens to make. We match the unit to the floor, and all nine run on the same three commercial models: RaaS from $50 a day, lease-to-own, or outright purchase with a Care Plan.
The three-question shortlist
If you take one method from this page, take this. Before comparing brands, answer three questions:
- What is the floor? Surface, total area, doorway widths, and whether water is available and allowed.
- What moves on it? People, trolleys, forklifts, and the hours the robot can run around them.
- Who fixes it here? Named local commissioning, parts and response, in writing, for your site.
Those three answers eliminate most of the market before a single brand pitch starts, and a dealer who cannot engage with them is selling a catalogue, not a solution.
